Leeds Civic Trust was established in 1965 and HR Fire has a longstanding association with the organisation going back over 20 years.

The Trust is a voluntary, non-political body, open to everyone who wants to participate in and influence the development of the city. It works in cooperation with both the public and private sectors, community groups and other interested parties.

To most people, Leeds Civic Trust is best known for its Blue Plaques Scheme commemorating people, events and buildings that shape the history of the city of Leeds. Less well known is the fact that blue plaques are nominated by members of the public, so individuals can be directly involved in the heritage and legacy of our city.

The Trust is actively involved in a range of heritage considerations, such as updating the Heritage at Risk List, with both listed and unlisted buildings considered worthy of preservation. Also, the Trust aims to influence the development of sustainable transport systems in Leeds for the benefit of all road users, residents and visitors.

HR Fire engineer Malcolm commented. “It’s always a pleasure going into central Leeds to service the Trust’s fire extinguishers and alarms once a year. Everyone there is so friendly and passionate about their work.”
