Sunshine and Smiles is a registered charity based in Leeds, which organises free groups and events designed to improve the lives and opportunities of children and families living with Down syndrome in the area. This includes speech and language therapy, regular groups and activities, individual support and advocacy for families. In addition, Sunshine and Smiles seeks to raise awareness and challenge preconceptions in the wider community.
HR Fire & Safety services all the fire extinguishers at 21 CO. which is their gallery and café based on Otley Road in Headingley. It is run for and by people with Down Syndrome to offer training and work experience with the aim of creating job opportunities.
Darren Webster, Managing Director at HR Fire spoke of his admiration for the charity. “What a wonderful organisation and it is a privilege to work with the team at Sunshine and Smiles at the 21 CO. gallery & café. We look after all their fire extinguisher maintenance and offer the best technical advice to ensure that visitors and staff alike are kept safe. They are always on the lookout for people to help in the gallery or café, so why not contact 21 CO. to volunteer – or at least call in for a drink and a bite to eat!
There’s a great range of drinks, including speciality coffees and teas. Snacks include toast, teacakes, pastries, cakes and cookies to tickle the taste buds of all customers. HR engineers are always competing to look after the fire extinguisher maintenance at 21 CO. – we wonder why!
